Forged in Hirosaki, Aomori Prefecture, by 8th-generation blacksmith Tsuyoshi Yoshizawa, the Nigara Kurouchi Hexagonal Tsuchime Gyuto bridges 350 years of traditional swordmaking heritage with modern architectural precision. Built around an elite SG2 (R2) micro-carbide powder steel core hardened to 62–63 HRC, this 210mm profile offers extraordinary edge retention, high toughness, and complete stainless protection.
The blade features a striking, dark kurouchi (blacksmith) finish accented by Nigara’s signature hexagonal tsuchime hammer marks—a geometric pattern that enhances food release while reflecting light with sharp, structural beauty. Ground exceptionally thin behind the edge with a polished choil, the blade is fitted with a ergonomic Western-style full-tang handle crafted from dense, moisture-resistant Desert Ironwood for superb counterbalance.
