GYUTO® Terms of Service

Last Updated: October 12, 2026

Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using or purchasing from the Gyuto website and platform (gyuto.com). By accessing our site, purchasing products, or engaging with our platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Return Policy.

1. General Conditions & Legal Age Requirement

  • Age Restriction: By purchasing knives or cutting tools from this site, you affirm that you are at least 18 years of age (or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction) and possess the legal right to purchase and receive cutlery products under local, state, federal, or international laws.

  • Refusal of Service: We reserve the right to refuse service, cancel orders, or terminate accounts at our sole discretion for any reason, including suspected fraudulent activity, unauthorized resale, or violation of these Terms.

2. Products, Handcrafted Variations & Accuracy

  • Natural & Handcrafted Variations: Products sold through gyuto.com are hand-forged, hand-ground, and constructed from natural materials (e.g., natural wood handles, buffalo horn ferrules, reactive high-carbon steel). Minor variations in grain, weight, length, kanji engraving, or surface finish are inherent to artisan Japanese cutlery and are not considered manufacturing defects.

  • Errors & Omissions: We strive for absolute accuracy in our product listings, specs (HRC, blade length, edge bevels), and pricing. However, typographical errors or technical glitches may occur. We reserve the right to correct any errors, update pricing, or cancel orders placed for products listed at an incorrect price prior to shipment.

3. Knife Safety, Compliance & Assumption of Risk

  • Legal Compliance: It is the sole responsibility of the buyer to ascertain and comply with all applicable local, state, federal, and international laws regarding the possession, importation, ownership, and use of cutlery products purchased from gyuto.com.

  • Assumption of Risk: High-performance Japanese cutlery features thin, extremely hard, and razor-sharp edges (often 60–66 HRC). Improper use, such as cutting bone, frozen food, dense squash, or applying lateral twisting/torque force, can result in micro-chipping or tip breakage. Damage resulting from improper technique, dropped blades, dishwashers, or incorrect whetstone sharpening is considered user wear-and-tear and is not covered under warranty.

  • Liability Release: Gyuto and its parent entities, officers, and affiliates are not liable for any personal injury, property damage, or loss resulting from the handling, use, misuse, or storage of products purchased through our store.

4. Ordering, Pricing & Store Drops

  • Payment & Currency: All transactions are processed in USD unless explicitly stated otherwise. Payment must be completed in full at the time of order placement.

  • Store Drops & Quantity Limits: Due to limited availability of artisan cutlery, we reserve the right to enforce per-customer quantity limits on promotional items, limited drops, or high-demand custom pieces. Orders exceeding these limits may be canceled without notice.

  • Shipping & Customs Duties: The buyer is responsible for all shipping fees, import duties, customs taxes, and carrier brokerage fees assessed by their destination country. Gyuto is not responsible for items delayed or seized by international customs agencies.

5. Intellectual Property Rights

  • Trademarks & Copyright: All content on gyuto.com—including text, editorial articles, custom graphics, logos, video media, transcript adaptations, and product photography—is the exclusive intellectual property of Gyuto and is protected by international copyright laws.

  • Restrictions: You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from any site content without express prior written consent from Gyuto.

6. Third-Party Links & Disclosures

  • Affiliate & External Links: Our platform may feature embedded content, links to third-party services, or affiliate recommendations. We are not responsible for the privacy practices, content, or terms of third-party platforms.

7. Limitation of Liability & Indemnification

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Gyuto shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, punitive, or consequential damages arising out of your use of our site or products. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Gyuto from any claims, liabilities, damages, or legal expenses resulting from your breach of these Terms or violation of local laws.

8. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which the business is registered, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be resolved through binding arbitration or within the state/federal courts of our primary business registration.
